Hello, lovelies. How are you? I hope 2015 is going swimmingly. We have had the most magical summer in Sydney – and it’s not over yet.
I’ve got a few photos up my sleeve to share with you this week, but first I wanted to let you in on a pretty special spot to have afternoon tea.
As if the name of this blog wasn’t a clue – I do love a cup of tea. Alex is well aware of this and very thoughtfully arranged a surprise day-out with plenty of tea for my Christmas present.
My littlest sister is visiting from the UK and she very kindly watched Ted, while we skipped into the city for a few hours of child-free, nappy-bag free and buggy-free time!
The Park Hyatt looks over Sydney’s iconic Circular Quay, with stellar views of the Opera House and all the comings and goings in the harbour. Inside it’s all muted tones and subtle decor – nothing to detract from the sights through the window.
We started with a glass of pink champagne – so festive – and dabbled in a spot of people watching while we waited for the main event to arrive.
And, let me tell you, the tower of teatime treats did not disappoint. Sandwiches, little cakes, and the best scones I’ve tasted in a long time.
Sadly, Alex isn’t a huge fan of cake, and as there was no way I was letting those beauties go to waste, I may have eaten mine and his share. Sometimes you have to take one for the team.
Oh, and the tea was pretty good too. There was a great selection to choose from, and I loved how the silver teapot had its own white cotton handle-cover to protect your hands while pouring yourself another brew.
For a special event, or just a bit of me-time, I would highly recommend a visit. But perhaps book ahead as they were turning people away the afternoon we visited. Plus it’s first-in, best-dressed when it comes to snagging the coveted window seats – although every seat is a winner.
If you really want to go for it, take a trip to the hotel’s spa too. I had a massage, manicure and pedicure before our tea. Although I didn’t manage to take any pictures of my lovely nails, they helped me maintain a thin aura of elegance while scoffing all the scones.
WHERE: The Park Hyatt, 2 Hickson Road, The Rocks, Sydney
WHAT: Afternoon tea is served daily from 2.30pm -5.00pm. $49 per person or $65 per person with a glass of champagne.

Oh wow… that looks amazing. Those macarons! Sometimes, for our birthdays, my best friend and I have tea somewhere “fancy” in London and it’s always the most wonderful, over the top occasion. What a great Christmas present. x

There is nothing like a fancy tea, is there? I might have to see if I can get another trip out for my birthday! Need more cake!
